Below is a message from Mr. Bayani Faner:
I am serious about giving an award to the best essay on this topic. But as I said, only for currently enrolled students (including grad students, except those who are pursuing English or Literature major). The contributor should be a Simaranhon... either one or all of the parents have Simaranhon ties; must also have lived in Simara for at least a year of his/her formative years (from 9 to 20 years old).
Of course everyone is welcome to post their opinion, but I am doing this to encourage Simaranhon students to discover their creative minds.
Proof of eligibility will be my call. Also, I will be the sole judge of this competition. My decision will be final without the benefit of an appeal. I will base my criteria on substance, compelling arguments, facts, and originality. Form and grammar are the least that I will consider. The essay should be at least one page length, but I will consider anything that is at least four paragraphs as sufficient. Please try to be original as possible and avoid plagiarism.
For starter, I will put up a $100.00 for this contest. Seventy-five dollars to the winner and 25 dollars to the placer. This is just a start, if turnout is good... who knows I might consider making this a yearly event. This contest will run until April 1, 2003.

Project:Corcuera Pier
Phillipine Ports Authority(PPA) had launched the 35 million Corcuera Pier. This project materialized through the effort of the Municipal Government headed by Mayor Bibiano Fanlo.
According to the plan, the pier will be constructed along the old port (pantalan) which is not used for many years, this plan included the construction of a passenger terminal, widening of road from the port to the town proper and others. The project's target completion is 18 months .
The constuction firm assigned to this project had already sent their construction equipment including the 2 barges to Simara . After the completion of this project, the local government will be working for the passenger services by asking shipping companies like Viva Shipping Lines and Montenegro Shipping to include Simara in their shipping route.
Water System for Poblacion!
In the response of water problem, the barangay council of Poblacion together with the local government of Corcuera headed by Mayor Bibiano Fanlo and Brgy.Capt.Paciano Fajilan pursued the construction of a water system for Poblacion. The project includes the construction of two or more water tanks that would serve as a reservoir. The process begins by pumping water from the deep well using an electric water pump that will pump water to the tankks located at the elevated portion of the Poblacion, the stored water will undergo processing before distributed to the consumers.
This project was started last April. As of now one tank was started its operation.according to Brgy.Capt.Fajilan, each tank could only cater 10-15 homes. This so becuase of the small capacity of the water tanks. By next month the next one will be operational.
